Ducab HV is the first dedicated high voltage (60-150kV) and extra high voltage (220-500kV) solutions provider in the Middle East. Set up in 2009, as a joint venture between Ducab, Dubai’s Electricity and Water Authority, and the Department of Energy in Abu Dhabi, we operate from an advanced manufacturing and testing facility in Dubai.

Ducab HV combines decades of cable engineering experience with cutting edge HV and materials test laboratories. We provide our clients with seamless support on all aspects of conventional and renewable high and extra-high voltage cable systems.

Our team has direct experience of MENA, European and Asian power cable design, testing, installation, and operation, from low up to extra high voltage.

Our test laboratories are state-of-the art.

Our HV test laboratory is the largest Faraday cage in the Middle East with a full range of equipment for testing and training. We perform product type approvals, R&D, and quality assurance testing to all major national and international standards. Our engineers can advise the most appropriate test procedures and experimental designs for your products, and we have performed testing witnessed by European and North American accredited inspectors.

We use finite element analysis (FEA) software for cable ampacity, electrical design of products such as joints and terminations and magnetic field analysis. For ampacity we also use CYMCAP® which allows us to validate results from FEA and other calculations. We also have a fully equipped material test laboratory equipped for tensile testing, DSC, TGA, moisture content, high temperature ovens, light microscopy, dimensional analysis and FTIR.

At Ducab HV we don’t just design, manufacture, install and maintain HV systems, we also provide expert training on cable engineering through our highly experienced, dedicated training team.

Our courses can be provided in either English and Arabic at our Dubai offices, or if you prefer at your own location. We offer a complete suite of pre-designed course modules, mostly lasting one or two days, or talk to us about your own organisation’s specific training and development requirements.

Understanding failure before it happens.

Minimising unplanned maintenance and preventing outages is critical, because failure of components or entire cable systems is expensive and time consuming. Our engineers are experienced in reliability engineering and can advise on measures to reduce or eliminate the risk of failure.

We carry out site inspections or laboratory analysis to determine the condition of cable systems and will advise further monitoring, repair, or replacement. Where outage has occurred and samples can be taken, we perform failure analysis in our own world-class laboratories, to determine the cause together with recommendations for future prevention.

Over 75% of our Ducab products are exported from The Emirates to more than 45 countries across the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas.

Installation engineering theory put into practice.

We offer a full package of design, procurement, installation, and commissioning of HV and EHV cable systems and are accredited with the latest QHSE and ISO standards. We are approved as an EPC contractor within the UAE and manage overseas projects with locally qualified partners.

Our installation and site services division has a team of highly experienced engineers with deep industry knowledge who can advise on the ideal routing and methods for installation. This includes calculation of pulling forces, minimum bend radiuses, thermomechanical and short circuit forces, based on specifications and industry recommendations such as Cigre. We also offer maintenance and consultation site services for XLPE and oil-filled cable systems.
