JOB PURPOSE
Assist the Maintenance and Mechanical Supervisor to provide timely maintenance and efficient Mechanical Engineering services to Ducab’s assets to ensure optimum operation, minimum loss time and maximum asset life
KEY ACCOUNTABILTIES
Policies, Processes and Procedures
• Implement all Standard Operating Procedures and processes
Tool Box
• Maintain all tools, safety gear and equipment provided by the company safely and in good working condition to ensure they are ready for use on the job
• Arrange for repair or replacement of any tools or safety gear that may not be in good working condition
Time Time Management
• Carry out all maintenance jobs in line with assigned time standards
• Notify the Maintenance Supervisor if additional resources are required to carry out the job within the assigned time frame
Health, Safety and Environment (HSE)
• Follow all relevant HSE policies, procedures & guidelines
• Follow safe and efficient work methods using proper equipment, tools and protective clothing specified for the job to avoid personal injury and equipment and product damage
Housekeeping
• Implement 5S principles to keep the work environment clean and tidy before, during and after executing the job
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
• Participate in lean manufacturing initiatives for innovation and continuous improvement
Preventive Maintenance
• Undertake preventive maintenance in line with the maintenance job plan and machine availability to minimize breakdown maintenance
• Exercise vigilance and troubleshoot simple or developing problems in order to ensure continuity of operations and escalate those beyond own capability to ensure effective resolution
Machinery Installation
• Install machinery and platforms in new and existing plants
Breakdown Maintenance
• Undertake breakdown maintenance for repairs, fabrication and welding jobs when requested to enable quick recovery of production at assigned standards, in line with Standard Operating Procedures
• Report any abnormalities observed to the Mechanical / Maintenance Supervisor to enable appropriate corrective action to be taken
Asset Management System
• Complete the ERP maintenance activity sheet after completion of the assigned job and highlight areas of concern
• Input maintenance data in the Asset Management system to ensure accuracy and reliability of maintenance information in the system
Out Sourced Activities
• Analyze jobs and communicate to the Mechanical or the Maintenance Supervisor to assist them by coordinating power supply, fixing minor faults, technicalities to complete the specified tasks
• Provide contractor’s craftsmen with guidance to support the efficient execution of outsourced
KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Essential: Secondary School Certificate with a Vocational certificate in Fitter and/or Fabrication trade. Good knowledge of Pneumatic and Hydraulic systems
Desirable : Welding and fabrication experience
Job Skills: Fitting and fabrication skills, good communication, able to read mechanical drawings

Experience : 5 years or more of relevant experience in mechanical maintenance of heavy rotating machinery within a large manufacturing plant, preferably in an ERP environment using SAP
